Charles River Apparel (UPIC: CRA) has launched its ‘Tis The Season For Giving Campaign for the third year in a row. The giving campaign reaches out to social media users, asking them to become a fan of CRA on Facebook.  For every “like” the company receives, it will donate a garment to the homeless. The campaign runs until December 31.

“As part of our Charles River Cares program, we are committed to helping nonprofit groups around the country that help individuals and families who are facing difficult circumstances,” says Deb Lipsett, manager of strategic partnerships for CRA. “This year we are fortunate to partner with The Bowery Mission, an organization that has served homeless and hungry New Yorkers since 1879.”

This year, The Bowery Mission has provided more than 382,400 meals, 93,700 nights of shelter and 46,800 articles of clothing. They also supplied showers and haircuts, as well as expert medical and optometric care. Each meal and each night of shelter is also an invitation to its residential recovery programs. “For people served by The Bowery Mission, warm clothing in the winter can make the difference between hopelessness and hope. New clothes can be the first step toward a transformed life,” says Ed Morgan, president of The Bowery Mission. “We are grateful to Charles River Apparel for caring about New Yorkers in need.”

Speaking on the company’s goals for the year, Lipsett says: “We want to reach at least 3,000 new ‘likes’ to our company Facebook fan page, which will more than double our donations from 2012. That would equal 3,000 jackets, fleece or hoodies keeping someone warm this winter.”

Charles River Apparel employees are also part of the drive, donating their time to sort garments and get them ready for shipment. “We have a wonderful and dedicated team at our Sharon, Massachusetts, headquarters, which goes above and beyond during our busiest season,” adds Lipsett.
